Reggae and a dash of chaos: Find out what happened at the 2008 "Tribute to Bob Marley" in Salvador!

Last Saturday, March 29, 2008, another edition of “Tributo a Bob Marley” took place in Salvador, an event that brought together names like Edson Gomes, Ponto de Equilíbrio, Adão Negro, Sine Calmon, Isaque Gomes and Racionais MCs. In recent editions of the party, we have had large presences of international attractions, as was the case last year with Lucky Dube, who performed his last show at Bahia on that occasion. This time the event's production focused on combining Reggae with Rap, inviting Racionais MCs to participate in the show. Peace, the most present characteristic in the vast majority of Reggae shows, was left out this time, as there were many fights, especially during the performance of the São Paulo group Racionais MCs. Scenes of disrespect were also seen with the band Ponto de Equilíbrio and with “Chorão” (Charlie Brown Jr) who participated in the Adão Negro show. Even with almost the entire audience cheering these artists, a small, uneducated group that was close to the stage insisted on throwing objects and booing everyone who wasn't Rap artists. Apart from these negative points, the shows went well for the musicians and the audience, who cheered a lot during each song played, and despite having complained about the sound system, they seemed to be satisfied with the performances. We look forward to another edition of the party next year that usually brings big names in national and international Reggae to Bahia.
