Don Carlos keeps rocking across Brazil! Check our exclusive recap of the first shows!
The incomparable Don Carlos, one of the greatest living legends of the Reggae world is on tour in Brazil, and has been killing it wherever he goes. Don, who is completing 43 years of his career, has already visited several cities, always captivating and bringing great emotions to his audience. The first six performances took place respectively in São Paulo, Teresina, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife and Maceió, where the artist and the band showed their full potential, also revealing a big surprise: the keyboardist, Swelele - who has been playing with him since 1983 - has a solo work and is having the opportunity to open the show with two excellent songs.

THE FIRST SHOW: SÃO PAULO

With the cancellation of Bunny Wailer's tour, which would have performed alongside"Tosh Meets Marley", Leões de Israel and Filosofia Reggae at Expresso Brasil, on 16/05, the public was in for a big surprise. Don Carlos was invited to participate in the event, which resulted in a change of date for the Fortaleza show, which was already scheduled for that same day. The Expresso Brasil audience was privileged, as the venue's stage is very large, allowing Don to put on a show of performance and presence. Always responding to fans' requests, classics such as"Lazer Beam","Ababa John I","Just a Passing Glance","Living in the City"and"Young Girl"were performed. The highlight of the show was"Satta Massagana", which was sung in chorus by the entire audience. Don Carlos said goodbye to the crowd leaving a very good feeling, and if everything goes well São Paulo should be a more than right"praça"for his next tour. Showing a show of humility and charisma, Don welcomed ALL of his fans who were waiting at the dressing room door to take photos and receive autographs, always treating them with utmost attention.

HIGH VIBRATION: TERESINA

The production of the Teresina show was very professional, and showed the full strength of Reggae there. Even with a bus strike in the city, the audience at Espaço Noé Mendes was quite expressive, and without a doubt the most vibrant to date. The audience cheered Don so much that it brought tears to the veteran waterman's eyes during the song"7 Days a Week". Always greeting everyone and distributing smiles, once again it was clear that Don Carlos is the friendliest and most attentive Reggae artist we have ever had the opportunity to work with. Leave a fan unsatisfied? This is almost impossible for Don Carlos, as even songs that were not in the repertoire and were requested by enthusiastic fans were sung acapella. The public distributed their cheers and many gifts for the star, who received everything from necklaces to CDs, sunglasses, hats and shirts. All his fans who were interested in getting to know him more closely were received by him after the show with the greatest attention in the world.

FOLLOWING THROUGH THE NORTHEAST

The next stop on the tour was in Fortaleza, a large northeastern capital that has a good audience for reggae shows. Despite this fact, the Fortaleza audience at Reggae Clube was the least expressive of the tour so far. Even so, the show was very intimate and Don Carlos was very close to his audience, and as always, he had a lot of vibes. Highlight for the acapella versions requested by fans, especially Samuca (son of Fauzy Beydoun from Tribo de Jah) who seemed to be the most enthusiastic in the audience (laughs). In Natal, the northeastern capital that recently began hosting international reggae acts, the band that has accompanied Don Carlos in Brazil was highly praised by the artist himself and by his original keyboardist, who has already invited everyone to play with them at a Festival in Jamaica. The band is very well rehearsed and has demonstrated a lot of harmony during the performances. The Christmas audience received a double encore, the final with the song"Hog and Goat", a hit from the album"Them Never Know Natty Dread Have Him Credential", one of Don's classics.
Recife, another large city in the northeast region, welcomed Don Carlos for the first time. Once again the public vibe was exceptional. The stage at Clube Atlântico, being low, allowed for a very intimate show with a great exchange of energy between the band and the people who were raving on the dance floor. Already in Maceió, Don Carlos was invited to the launch party for the 10th anniversary DVD of the band Vibrações, which has great morale in the State of Alagoas. After a very good performance by the band Resistência and Vibrações, Don Carlos took the stage and rocked it once again, putting on one of the best shows of the tour. Songs like"7 days a week","Holiday","Time","Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner"and the encore"Satta Massagana"sent the Alagoas audience into a frenzy. Soon we will be covering more upcoming shows. Manaus, Brasília, Belém, Belo Horizonte and subsequent cities await us, as we will be arriving with the great Don Carlos for more unforgettable shows.
