Farewell to Roy Shirley: World reggae loses another of its veterans! Learn more.

Author of one of Rocksteady's greatest classics - "Hold Them", singer Roy Shirley went to Zion last Thursday, July 17, 2008. Roy, born in 1944 and baptized by Ainsworth Roy Rushton Shirley, was one of the founders of the vocal trio "Uniques", a group of great prominence in the late 60s. Roy Shirley had been living in England since 1973, where he founded the British Universal Talent Development Association, with the aim of supporting new idols that were about to emerge. Known for being a very kind person and always trying to help others, Roy has always stood out for working with great Jamaican producers such as Joe Gibbs and Prince Buster.
