Reggae on top: A Tropa wins the program Astros of SBT! See it on Surforeggae!

The band A Tropa won the program Astros (SBT) with the song “Grão de Areia”, and brought an unprecedented achievement to national reggae. With a unique performance, they showed that they were not there for nothing, and definitely arrived to show their face to everyone Brasil being considered the great reggae revelation for 2009. The final aired on 31/12 and it couldn't have been in a better style, the last of the year, in a special edition with 10 finalists (normally there are 9), ending 2008 with a flourish. Juror Arnaldo Saccomani, known as “o mais impetuoso dos jurados”, was full of praise when he said: "I don't understand how you haven't exploded yet... you have creativity, you have your own music, you have style, you have performance, you have everything. You're not in the place even though you deserve it..." A comment like this has enormous weight, since Saccomani is one of the biggest music producers in the country with a track record of more than 300 recorded songs and around 25 million CDs and LPs sold as a composer and producer during his more than 30-year career. Launched or produced: Tim Maia, Mutantes, Rita Lee, among others. In the previous edition, another judge, Carlos Miranda (launched/produced O Rappa, Skank, Cordel de Fogo Encantado, and holds a Grammy Latino producing an album by the singer, Lobão) had already said: “Reggae made at Brasil with authenticity and truth, A very rare thing, you do it, congratulations!”  Click here and download the song “Grão de Areia”.
