Don Carlos performed his last show of the "Conexão Brasil x Jamaica" tour at Estância Alto da Serra last Saturday, on the 8th. Once again the star proved at every show why he is considered one of the best artists from reggae's golden era still active. On this tour, Euvin Spencer, popularly known as Don Carlos, incorporated into his setlist the compositions from his new work, "Changes", which to the surprise of its creator, was sung with great enthusiasm in several Brazilian cities.
Seeing Don Carlos open his performance with "I Love Jah Jah" was an emotional experience. Track 4 of the album "Changes", it entered without asking permission into the vast list of the singer's classics, because at no moment did it cause that natural "strangeness" when a consolidated artist presents new work, especially when the artist in question released his last album 12 years ago. As soon as the first chords were played, the excitement was general, as if "Johnny Big Mouth" or "Just a Passing Glance" were being performed. It was the same with the new songs "Favorite Cup", "Changes", "I Don´t Know" and the explosive "Rude Boy" (Go Easy).
In São Paulo, at a hotel hosting Don Carlos and his wife, we had a chat about the tour and could feel how positive the results were. Don was very relaxed and constantly thanked Rafael Costa (Surforeggae/Intershows) for the excellent organization of the tour. Those who attended Estância Alto da Serra, for example, witnessed something unprecedented regarding respect for show schedules. Some stage changes took no more than 15 minutes!

Also from Surforeggae, Rangel Melkunas, responsible for the illustrations on the album "Changes", was also highly praised, and Don Carlos revealed that he received many calls and emails congratulating him not only on the unparalleled quality of the songs, but also on what he himself called the impressive album cover.
Don Carlos showed great gratitude for the always warm Brazilian reception and did not spare praise for the band that accompanied him: "A strong, imposing sound, they are very mature" - said the star. Among the members are guitarist and vocalist of the defunct Vibrações de Jah, Júlio Maurício, one of the most acclaimed bassists in national reggae, Douglinhas (Reggae Style), Felipe, drummer of Nengo Vieira and considered one of the best in the country, Keké (Tribo de Jah) on keyboards, Peppe, percussionist of Fully Fullwood Band who has already played with The Wailers, Toots & The Maytals, among others, and Francys, who has played trombone for Don Carlos for 3 years. A true dream team.
Everyone satisfied, Don returns to the United States, while the Surforeggae team and Intershows rush to achieve new good results for reggae with Bambu Station, straight from the Virgin Islands and for the first time in Brazil! Stay tuned and see you next time.
