Intershows/Surforeggae brings yet another world reggae legend closer to you. After bringing icons such as Gregory Isaacs, Israel Vibration, Groundation, SOJA, Bambu Station, Don Carlos, Andrew Tosh, Apple Gabriel, Alpha Blondy, Lucky Dube, among others, the time has come for the most requested headliner to perform on Brazilian soil... Max ROMEO!
What Reggae music lover doesn't know or hasn't heard of Max Romeo? Maxi Smith, known worldwide as Max Romeo, was born in 1947 in Saint Jaimes - in Jamaica - and released his first album at the age of 18. Right from his debut, he gained enough exposure to be invited by the greatest Jamaican producers of the time, such as Bunny Lee and Lee "Scratch" Perry, with whom he produced one of the most crucial and important Reggae albums according to international critics – "War Inna Babylon".
Just listen to "Three Blind Mice" or "Chase The Devil" (a hit that was even sampled by the electronic music group "Prodigy") to understand the hypnotic power of Max's songs. Responsible for creating a genre in Reggae called "lyrics", where songs were sung with three simultaneous voices, the artist even reached international charts, as with the song "Wet Dream", which topped the UK TOP 10 for weeks.
His stage performance and vocal technique continue to win praise from both audiences his age and younger listeners, who surrender to the Reggae of the Jamaican pioneer. Max Romeo is one of the most successful Jamaican artists in Europe and the United States, performing for true crowds wherever he goes, even headlining major festivals.
Passionate about Brazil, the artist even has two children named after stars of our football – Romário (13 years old) and Ronaldo (11 years old). Max announced that in 2010 he would be ending his major touring career and that he would like to pass through Brazilian lands. Now is the time for the Brazilian and South American public to prepare for great shows and to get to know more of this true icon of Jamaican and world music.
