Controversial Jamaican artist Buju Banton took the award for best Reggae album of the year 2010 with "Before The Dawn" (Before Dawn) released on his label Gargamel Music.

Banton defeated the favorites Andrew Tosh (with Legacy: An Acoustic Tribute to Peter Tosh) and Gregory Isaacs (with Isaacs Meets Isaac), with the second being considered the main competitor, due to Gregory's importance to the rhythm and the fact that he has never been recognized by music's biggest award.
