Makasound, a label known worldwide by any reggae collector, has just closed its activities. Names likeAlton Ellis,Winston McAnuff,Black Roots,Leroy Smart,The Rastafarians,The SlickersandDelroy Williamswere just a few whose albums were re-released and distributed by the French label throughout the world.

Founded in 2002, the label declared bankruptcy in the first week of March, ceasing its activities due to legal obligations. Its partners and foundersRomain GermaandNicolas Maskowskiofficially declare on the company's website that the main reason was illegal downloading, which stagnated both physical and digital sales.
