Police capture man who shot Ras Bernardo! Learn more on Surforeggae!

Rubber worker Sérgio Menezes (photo), 48 years old, was identified by the police as the person responsible for the shot that injured former Cidade Negra singer Sebastião Francisco Bernardo, known as Ras Bernardo, in Nova Iguaçu, Baixada Fluminense. He is the singer's neighbor, with whom he had a disagreement eight months ago, when his horse was electrocuted after touching the protective fence of the musician's house.

Since then, Sérgio Menezes charged Ras Bernardo R$8,000 for the animal's death. As Ras did not pay, he was shot with a 12-gauge shotgun. The weapon was found buried in the backyard of Sérgio Menezes' house with 32 pieces of ammunition and two fired cartridges. The police arrived at Sérgio after a friend of the singer told the police about the fight eight months ago. Sérgio Menezes was temporarily detained for illegal possession of a weapon and attempted murder.
