Estância surrenders to the legendary Abyssinians in a special night with Groundation and Mato Seco!
The Meeting of the Tribes brought together reggae and forró again with mastery. Not only for the organization, but also for the quality of the attractions. On the part of forró, big names such as Raiz do Sana, Peixelétrico, Bicho de Pé and Duani (ex-Forróçacana)... and on the part of reggae, two highlights of today - Groundation and Mato Seco - and a true living legend of world reggae: The Abyssinians. The night of the 25th, in addition to being beautiful, promised many emotions on the part of the greatest highlight of national reggae, Mato Seco. With a popularity that was affirmed in the chorus of thousands of people with each song, the band returned the affection by presenting songs from the next album "Seco e Ainda Vivo", and the Estância shuddered with the consecrated classics.Like Mato Seco, the band Groundation performed the same day at Campinas Hall, and headed to the Estância to close the night. In the meantime, the Abyssinians took the stage, and the atmosphere of expectation was great.

SACRED MONSTERS

Donald Manning, Bernard Collins and David Morrison, one of the most important vocal trios in the history of reggae, as well as a true "classic factory", Abyssinians played for the first time in São Paulo, this being their first tour of Brazil. With the Lions of Israel as the backing band, the opening of the show was due to the traditional "medley", small excerpts of the band's great hits played in sequence and in an instrumental way. Only then did the watermen present TRULY understand the importance of what they would witness. PURE HISTORY!
When the trio entered, the uproar was general and it was not difficult to find a man in tears at the first touches of "Good Lord". Magic impossible to translate into words. Without leaving the weight of the smaller notes, "Know Jah Today" and "Abendigo" (much requested) made a killer sequence.Next, the enveloping groove of “Peculiar Number” and the chorus of the thousands of voices present. Another highlight of the performance was "Y Mas Gan", and the beautiful and exciting "Let my Days Be Long", masterpiece of the album "Arise".Near the end of the performance, "Declaration of Rights", "This Land is for Everyone" and "Oh Lord" preceded "Satta Massagana", an authentic hymn of praise that elevated the Abyssinians to a level of "spokespersons" of worldwide roots reggae.

In the chorus, the words "Satta Massagana... Ahamlack, ulaghize" are in Amharic, Ethiopia's official language, and mean "Thanks and Praises to God continually." In this atmosphere of positive vibrations, the performance of these sacred reggae monsters, living examples of talent and humility, came to an end.

CLOSING THE NIGHT

Showing agility, the organization soon posted the new arrivals from Campinas Hall on stage. Groundation was getting ready for another memorable show.Showing the band's dynamic footprint, a true jazz/reggae, songs from the new album "Building An Ark" were presented and APPROVED by the audience, who raved about the keyboard solos of Marcus Urani, the heavy bass of the great Ryan Newman and the exciting and engaging dances of the backings-vocals Kim Pommel and Kerry Ann Morgan.
With all due respect to the highlights of today - national and international - Mato Seco and Groundation, the night had the status of "Historical" and the Abyssinians lived up to all expectations. Magic was in the air, and history was again written in Brazilian lands. Blessings!
