Alvera Coke, mother of reggae star Peter Tosh, passed away at the age of 96 on October 27th, in Westmoreland, Jamaica. "Mama Tosh", as she w
Alvera Coke, mother of reggae star Peter Tosh, passed away at the age of 96 on October 27th, in Westmoreland, Jamaica. "Mama Tosh", as she was known, died a week after attending her son Peter's 69th birthday celebrations. According to a post on the official Peter Tosh Facebook page, his family issued a statement on Sunday that said:
With great sadness we inform you about the death of Alvera Coke. Born in Belmont, Jamaica, on May 25, 1917, she died in the same house in which she grew up. She leaves behind the great legacy of being the mother of Peter Tosh and grandmother of 10 grandchildren. We will miss his great spirit and guidance."
