His long-time partner, Diana, confirmed the death, but without reporting the cause. He only said that he fell into a coma after being admitted to a hospital in the United States. He died shortly after returning to Jamaica. Born Altemont Thomas Robinson, the singer known as Lloyd Robinson was from Kingston. He began recording in the mid-1960s as a member of The Tartans, which also included Cedric Myton, who would later become lead singer of The Congos.
