Cidade Bahia sai in the frente and celebrates dia municipal of Reggae in the próximo sábado!

The municipality of Camaçari, part of the metropolitan region of Salvador, achieved a major victory for the local reggae movement. The Municipal Reggae Day Law was enacted, setting May 21 as the date. Until then, Salvador was the only city in the country with an official reggae day on its calendar. The bill was authored by Councilman Marcelino, encouraged by a collective of local artists led by Ailton Roots, musician and DJ. As part of the celebrations, a gathering took place on May 18 with people linked to the movement and also to government and culture. Among the participants were Councilman Marcelino, Alessandra Pamponet (Director of Music at FUNCEB), Lídice Berman (L&B Produções), Duda (vocalist of Diamba), Rick Beckfire (musician from Camaçari), as well as Rafael Costa and Flavus Regis, members of Surforeggae. The event also generated a series of interviews on local channels, such as on TV Câmara, where Duda - vocalist of Diamba - spoke about the subject and, of course, sang a few bars. On May 21 a major celebration with a charitable character will take place. The lineup features local artists and also acts from Salvador. See the full schedule below.
