You know that feeling of witnessing a historic event that will hardly ever be repeated on Brazilian soil? That was the sensation of seeing the original members of Peter Tosh's band — Word, Sound & Power — in action, with his son Andrew Tosh on vocals.

The flawless execution of the arrangements and the original tones transported everyone present to another dimension — more precisely, to one of Peter's concerts from the 1980s. Members of the Surforeggae Team attended the performance on two occasions: Seven Music Hall (Bahia) and Cine Jóia (São Paulo).

Classics such as "Pick Myself Up", "Stepping Razor" and "Where You Gonna Run" were stunning, but a powerful medley proved to be the highlight of the show.
In a relentless, uninterrupted sequence, Word Sound & Power played "African", "Equal Rights", "Downpresser Man", "Walk and Don't Look Back", "Rastafari Is" and "Johnny B Good", while Andrew showed off his vocal power, completely hypnotizing the audience.
Solid, precise and focused, drummer Santa Davis held nothing back and was closely watched by several drummers from Brazilian bands, along with the general audience whose eyes never left him through every fill and ending.
Keyboardist Keith Sterling seemed to be having the time of his life, smiling at every note he played and using the original tonal colors from Peter's songs, which added even greater value to the show.
The sound of Tony Chin's rhythm guitar recalled a sharp machete, played with perfect timing and marking the song arrangements with extraordinary skill.
Fully held down the low end with authority — the only shortcoming being the lack of a dedicated sound engineer. Donald Kinsey delivered one of the greatest displays of reggae lead guitar ever witnessed in Brazil.

As everyone knows, Peter Tosh's songs are filled with live guitar solos, and Donald held nothing back — showcasing all his virtuosity and mastery of the instrument, also nailing the solos with the same original tones from the acclaimed "Captured Live" era.
The tour covered several cities and also included a performance by the band on the Programa Altas Horas on TV Globo, on the last Saturday, February 11th. Unfortunately, at some shows, audiences failed to grasp the unique moment that was about to unfold in their city and did not give it the recognition it deserved.
The Surforeggae Team congratulates THT Produções for the initiative of bringing these masters together and, alongside local partners in each city, delivering a spectacular show that will be etched in the history of reggae in Brazil.

A HEAVYWEIGHT LINEUP
The band featured Carlton "Santa" Davis (drums), George "Fully" Fullwood (bass), Donald Kinsey (lead guitar), Tony Chin (rhythm guitar) and Keith Sterling (keyboards) — plus, of course, Andrew Tosh, whose vocal timbre and physical resemblance to Peter Tosh are simply remarkable. Anyone who missed the show undoubtedly lost a true masterclass in reggae, delivered by some of its greatest architects and teachers.

A HYPNOTIC SHOW
The fantastic setlist covered a large portion of Tosh's career, drawing from several albums such as "Bush Doctor", "Legalize It", "Mystic Man" and "Mama Africa". The band showed a chemistry worthy of musicians who have been playing together for a very long time, and even the intricate arrangements and detailed song endings typical of Tosh's music were executed with masterful precision.
