Another SKA legend bids farewell. Born in Kingston/Jamaica in 1944, Winston Samuels passed away on August 24 in Florida, USA. His career began in 1962 with legendary music producer Coxsone Dodd (Studio One). His first hit, "Angela", was released in 1964 and led to new partnerships and hits with producer L.O Pottinger. Among other SKA classics he recorded are "You are the One", "Be Prepared", "Luck Will Come My Way" and "Here I Come Again", as well as "I'm the Greatest" from the Rocksteady era. He was known for being an enthusiastic mentor of new talent and always encouraged his younger relatives to develop their skills in music. Winston left behind a son and wife and will be buried in Philadelphia, USA.
