Andre Tosh in town: Rastas gather at Via Funchal! Check it out!
He makes his mission clear: to continue the work of master Peter Tosh. It would be too pretentious if the follower of one of reggae's most revered singers were not his own son. Jamaican Andrew Tosh, with the endorsement of Peter's former partners, leads today at Via Funchal the Festival 89 Reggae Beat. The lineup also features national bands Natiruts, Planta & Raiz, Maskavo and Raízes Rasta.
Tosh is finishing his latest album, 'Focus', to release it by year's end. His first album, 'Original Man', is from 1988, in which he recorded songs that became famous in Peter Tosh's voice. Natiruts, the second most anticipated act, should preview songs from 'Quatro', their latest album, and recall tracks from previous albums 'Nativus' (97), 'Povo Brasileiro' (99) and 'Verbalize' (2001). The sextet also has a new guitarist, Tonho Gebara, who replaces Kiko Peres.
