The reggae band from Curitiba, Djambi, holds a national release show for their fifth album, CD "Pode Crer", on October 20th, at Curitiba Master Hall. The audience will be able to check out the repertoire that mixes old hits, such as "Barca", "Keep This Feeling" and "Anjo da Guarda" and the songs from the new album, "Flor Rara", "Pode Crer" and "Ouro e a Prata". The show will be opened by the band from Curitiba I.ung and the band from Rio de Janeiro Ponto de Equilíbrio, which celebrates the gold record of more than 50 thousand copies sold of CD "Reggae a Vida com Amor". The house opens at 10:30 pm and Djambi takes the stage at 12:30 am.
To honor the public in the capital of Paraná, Djambi decided to start the tour for the release of the album "Pode Crer" in the city where he began his solid artistic career. Afterwards, the musicians will go on a national tour to promote the band and the new CD, until the end of this year. In 2007, Djambi went on an international tour.
The album "Pode Crer" brings together 13 new songs, in the style of roots reggae and focused on international music references, mixing the simplicity of Jamaican rhythms with the roots sound. The compositions were made by the band members themselves, who were also responsible for the arrangements and choice of the repertoire. The guitarist and producer Emerson Antoniacomi, who had participated in the recordings of the band's first album, signed the co-production of the CD, in addition to the guitar arrangements. The brass was done by Reginaldo Saturno, who recorded the sax throughout the album.
The song "Pode Crer" is the song that gives the album its name, reaffirming the band's characteristic determination to achieve their goals. It's more of a roots reggae, which with the collaboration of the backing vocals of the gospel group Isbah has an African flavor. "Flor Rara" is the working song on this album and talks about the search for true love, inspired by the flower Edelweiss, which grows in the Alps and is very rare. A great song talking about love.
"Solto", composed by Eron and sung by Neno, speaks of the day we get rid of material things. The lyrics for "Mudanças" were composed by Rodolpho and included harmonies from the band's newest member, the Rio keyboardist Ricardo Verocai. "A pé" is sung by Neno, shows the reality of people who walk on their path, without giving up. You can feel the influence of the footsteps on the rhythm of the music. "Meu bem" was written by Rodolpho in partnership with Gigio Venturelli. It talks about the comings and goings of a love, in an almost childish way, which is why its assimilation by the listener is almost immediate. It features Ivan Graciano on the accordion and Gulin on the country guitar, which gives a rural touch to this reggae.
"Respeite a minha fé" was written by Rodolpho in partnership with Betão Silva, keyboardist and lyricist from São Paulo, pioneer of Brazilian reggae. The beat is dance hall, and the dancing groove carries a strong message of respect for differences. "Cor do Céu" is the contemplation of life, nature and good living through the words of Neno. "Ouro e a Prata" is perhaps the most "Jamaican" reggae on the album. This song is a warning to people who waste everything for material. "Dona da Bola" also has an earthy flavor, due to the presence of the country guitar and the accordion. A light song to dance to, which talks about the common man-woman flirtation at reggae shows.
"Resistência" is a song-remembrance of the dictatorship and those who fought for its end."Vou Seguir", written by Neno talks about different paths in search of life, simple things...peace. And finally "Solto Dub" is a remix version of the song loose where the voice moves into the background and the instruments take on another role, on a base of bass and drums.
They are all Djambi's own compositions, and the lyrics are by Rodolpho Grani and Neno Silva. The song "Respeite a minha Fé" was written in partnership with the São Paulo reggae man Betão Silva from the group Walking Lions, the song "Solto" with Eron Quintilhano and the song "Meu Bem" in partnership with Gigio Venturelli.
The band is completing eleven years of its career in 2006, being considered one of Brasil's main reggae bands and recognized for its talent in several countries. There were more than a thousand shows performed on eight international tours, seven of which were in Europe and one in Estados Unidos. Sometimes it was the band of stars like Junior Marvin (formerly The Wailers), Papa Winnie, Andrew Tosh (son of Peter Tosh) and Peter Broggs. In others, he shared the stage with big names in reggae, such as Toots and The Maytals in Nova Iorque (EUA), Muta Baruka in Roxy Theater in Los Angeles (EUA), Julian Marley in Tolmin (Eslovênia), Skatalites into Venelles (França), Steel Pulse, Michael Rose, and Linton Kwesi Johnson into Eindhoven (Holanda).
He played in several renowned concert halls and festivals such as SunSplash at Itália, Reggae Sun Dance at Holanda and Festival de Jazz de Montreux in 2004 at Suíça. In the year of Brasil at França, the group represented Brazilian reggae at festivals such as Toulouse, alongside big names in our music such as Hermeto Pascoal, Seu Jorge, Marcelo D2, Velha Guarda da Portela among others. But the greatest interaction with the French people was the continuity of the Djambi project with French cultural associations. In addition to França, Djambi has already performed at Itália, Holanda, Bélgica, Eslovênia, Macedônia, Suíça, Áustria, Estados Unidos and in several states of the Brasil.
