4 Years of Projeto Deskareggae: New look, new home!

In August 2002, more precisely, on the 28th of that month, the Deskareggae project was born in the capital of Minas Gerais. An event in the old Sambatório Geral, in the Carlos Prates neighborhood, featuring the bands: Macucos (ES), Rude Boys and Manitu (both from Belo Horizonte), marked the beginning of the project. Every Wednesday there was a reggae show there. Later the project moved to another location, taking place on Thursdays at Cervejaria Offcial, at Bairro Prado, a place that hosted big bands from Brasil, such as: Jahcareggae (DF), Jah Live (DF), Ponto de Equilíbrio (RJ), Unidade Punho Forte (RJ), Kanabaus (ES), Júnior Bocca and Madêra (ES), Rasta Joint (MG), Walking Lions (SP), Reggae Style (SP), Filosofia Reggae (SP), in addition to local bands like Celso Moretti and Banda Barraco de Aluguel, Rude Boys, Omeriah, THC, Keyroga and Banda Kalimba, Saci, Ogaia, Anaguilê, Soldados do Reggae, among others. Every Thursday the project hosted a band, in addition to DJing by Deskareggae researchers: Pedrin, Gabriel and Rafa, later forming the group of selectors “Dub Attack”, together with Brunno Januária. With the ideal of spreading the reggae message and promoting the reggae movement in Belo Horizonte, Deskareggae became a reference for reggae in the capital of Minas Gerais, not only in the city, but in Brasil. Not forgetting its social responsibility, the project reserved the last Thursday of every month for a charity party, with the entry being R$ 3 + 1 Kg of food, this donated to the Fome Zero program. Celebrating 4 years of history, Deskareggae moves house again. The event will celebrate its anniversary at the new concert hall in Belo Horizonte, Estação do Conde, a house attached to Casa do Conde. The event will feature the Rio band Ponto de Equilíbrio, with the band Ogaia, from Belo Horizonte, opening the party. DJing is handled by the Dub Attack selectors (Rafa, Gabriel, Pedrin and Januária). The band from Rio de Janeiro performs in the capital of Minas Gerais for the fourth time, all of which are offered by the producer Raiz de Jah, the organizer of Deskareggae. The event will mark the new phase of the project, with the intention of holding one party per month at Estação do Conde, a space with capacity for almost 5,000 people. With this, the event aims to hold major shows in the new house, targeting national and international artists, thus making it a route for international bands touring the Brasil, a major objective of the project. To this end, Raiz de Jah works to promote reggae in the capital of Minas Gerais, holding events parallel to Deskareggae. Congratulations to Deskareggae! Congratulations to Raiz de Jah!
