Surforeggae turns 7: The best bands on the national circuit taking reggae to the extreme! Check it out!

Surforeggae's 7th anniversary party was not only a great tribute to the iconBob Marley, but above all, a tribute to reggae seen as culture, as a lifestyle... this past April 20th,Kazebre, a music venue in the east zone of São Paulo, hosted the best bands on the national circuit and an audience to be praised, not in terms of quantity, but in terms of quality. There wasn't one person who wasn't calm and smiling in the crowd, just enjoying another typical"terra da garoa"night.
For those who don't know,Kazebrehas everything it needs to host great reggae shows, mainly due to its structure consistent with the ideology of the rhythm, as on the outskirts of the establishment there is a real forest that provides the atmosphere for the performances... nature literally embraces the place.
To eliminate the"famoso"delay in switching bands, delay in sound preparation, etc., the"Surforeggae 7 Anos"had 2 special stages: TheBobstage and theMarleystage. With that, a show ended and the crowd automatically changed the environment to, without delay, watch the next attraction.
The scheduled bands wereMato Seco,Filosofia Reggae,Vibrações de Jah, and one of the most anticipated... after 3 years away from the stage,Junior Dreadand the respectedReggae StyleBand, and it was precisely this band that opened the sequence of performances. With much expectation from the public,Junior Dreadwent to great lengths to ask the crowd to participate in this special moment. The first touches ofDouglas Earl's imposing bass were enough for theMarleystage track to begin to become"rechear".
I miss the boys' well-played reggae, the conscious compositions and the powerful instrumental, peculiar to this band fromVila Guilherme, a traditional São Paulo neighborhood.Junior Black Stylewas the bridge between the public andReggae Style, always interacting with those present and setting the performance on fire. It was chilling to see the beginning of"Justiça", not only because of the members' technique but because of the receptivity of the crowd, singing each part with great strength. Performing the biggest hits from their first album,"Em Meio ao Caos", songs like"Corra Atrás"made this reunion with fans something truly remarkable. Let's hope and, above all, help, so that this difficult interval withoutReggae Styledoes not happen again.
Shortly afterwards, the BOB stage,Kazebre's biggest stage, was preparing to receive the bandVibrações de Jah, born in the East zone of São Paulo. Top-notch lighting set the tone for the killer start with"Homem Prisioneiro". The band is well-known and experienced... it has been active since 1997 and has already achieved many things, such as the pleasure of being a support group for names likeDon Carlosand"filho do homem",Andrew Tosh. To make this clear, the hit"Johnny B. Good"by the immortalPeter Toshwas performed with great propriety.
Songs like"Lutador do Brasil","O Guerreiro"and"Acreditar"received a lot of applause. While the sound of Vibrações echoed aroundKazebre, theMarleystage was preparing to welcome the girls fromFilosofia Reggae. To entertain those waiting for the next attraction, aSteel PulseDVD played around the room. With a very skillful exchange,Vibrações de Jah's beautiful performance barely ended, and the crowd made their"mini-peregrinação"again for theMarleystage.
Filosofia Reggaehad practically half of the bandReggae Styleas support, and it was precisely with this"cozinha"that the sound began. A relentless intro instrumental, it was the bed for the hit"Leva a Vibração", sung even by"menos avisados". Next,"One Drop"was Filosofia's beautiful contribution to theBob MarleyTribute. The girls have new jobs and whenever they can, they leave a message.
It's the song"Só Para Alegrar seu Dia", which was immediately well received.Filosofia Reggaeis also known for its covers or versions, such as"Eu e Você"- original to the hit"I’m Still in Love"bySean Paul- to"Samurai"by the singer-songwriter,Djavan. There were also"Ex-Factor"fromLauryn Hilland the"Gone Down"high fromDezarie. Two of the last ones, which madeKazebrea single voice, were"Africa"and"Sentimento Bom", great successes that definitively boosted the group's career.
This band is growing in a way that is difficult to go unnoticed. The professionalism and power of composition, added to the strong instrumental, are makingMato Secowin fans all the time, whether at shows or through the versatility of the Internet. The show started minutes beforeFilosofia Reggae's performance ended, and the crowd packed theMarleystage.
To start, a respectful instrumental withRodrigo Piccoloplaying the flute (!), and then"Visão Moderna", where the reception was top notch. Soon after,"Resistência"gave the air of grace and the performance, which closed the night of celebrations, had everything to be one of the main ones of the festival."Jah Sabe Jah Vê"was another proof of the fact. To conclude, the band's biggest hit:"Navegantes da Ilusão", was sung word for word, infecting the members ofMato Seco.
And so was Surforeggae's 7th Anniversary atKazebre, an event that reminded and reinforced that it is possible to put on a great reggae show without fuss or confusion, and of course, without leaving aside the quality of the attractions.
