One of the biggest reggae festivals in Brazil,"Fundição Brasil Jamaica"reaches its 6th edition with exquisite production and cast: in the style of Jamaican parties - in which the band never stops playing - international attractions DON CARLOS, PABLO MOSES and ANDREW TOSH take turns at the microphones. On stage"Trenchtown"the Brazilian bands MATO SECO, from São Paulo, and MONTE ZION, from Rio, play.
On the main stage, the event begins with a show by ANDREW TOSH. The singer became"representar"his father, PETER TOSH, after his brutal murder in 1987. At the time, Andrew had already released his first album and was beginning his musical career. His most recent work is an album in honor of his father:"Andrew Sing´s Tosh: He Never Died", in which he performs several classics by the eternal guitarist of The Wailers, in addition to the beautiful song he wrote that gives the CD its name.
The band continues playing, without stopping. Andrew makes way for DON CARLOS, one of the Jamaican artists most loved by the Brazilian public today. Former lead singer of Blach Uhuru, the singer is celebrating 43 years of career. DON CARLOS composed reggae masterpieces such as"Harvest time","Just a passing glance","Ghetto living"and"Seven days a week". The show's repertoire includes the songs"Lazer Beam","Ababa John I","Holiday, Just Can’t Stop","Seven Days a Week","Just a Passing Glance","Cool Johnny Cool, Movin´". DON CARLOS participated in the first edition of the Fundição Brasil Jamaica festival, at Fundição Progresso, in 2005.
(Fundição Brasil Jamaica flyer)To close the night, PABLO MOSES, one of Jamaica's most important roots reggae musicians. Always with a preference for Rastafarian themes and with a hint of political criticism, Moses in his compositions talks about inequalities, racism and wars. Among the songs chosen for the show at Fundição are"Revolutionary Dream","A Song","Ready Aim Fire"and"Pave the way". Before the shows, DJ ANDREAD, a reggae specialist, drives the pickup trucks.
