Learn more about the band Vibrações from Maceió/AL, celebrating 10 years with a DVD release!
The band recently released a Live DVD called"Pedra que não foi polida", showing a lot of professionalism and taking a leap forward in their career, opening a space for Reggae in Maceió/AL, which didn't exist before. The group's DVD and 10th anniversary launch party took place in Maceió, on May 24th, with an impeccable structure, and was attended by a Jamaican legend: Don Carlos - who at the time was on tour in South America. Vibrações is a reggae band born in the city of Maceió, in the state of Alagoas, in 1998, which seeks to compose its identity by combining the original Jamaican reggae with the hybridism that makes up the Brazilian musical scene, more specifically the northeastern one. With diverse influences, he brings his authenticity in the contagious rhythmic structure of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous drums, in the lyrics of social denunciation, mixed with the urgent appeal for non-violence, based on peace, love and justice towards the disadvantaged. In view of the exclusion and discrimination of northeastern and black people, the band seeks, through the confrontation of aesthetic, musical and regional standards, a form of"territorização"of this part of the Brazilian population, in order to make them recognize themselves and feel inserted in the environment through a culture that represents them. Believing that this is possible, through the exposure of racial heritage, regional music and the typical language of the Northeast, not only resisting the overwhelming mass culture, but also facing the dominant dictates.
