The last few days have not been easy for Jamaican music. Shortly after the death of legendary trombonist Nambo Robinson, comes the news of the passing of another no less important "architect" of reggae, Ronnie Davis, one of the vocalists of the iconic trio The Itals.
Jerome Constantine Ballin, better known as Ronnie Davis, was born on July 4, 1950, and passed away on January 25th at the age of 66. Davis suffered a severe heart attack on the 23rd and died two days later.

Ronnie Davis leaves behind an incredible musical legacy built over a career spanning approximately 50 years. He had recently released a remarkable album, "Iyahcoustic", but earned his international fame above all as a member of The Itals, a vocal trio of immense importance to Jamaican reggae.
Beyond The Itals, Ronnie was also a member of The Tennors, a group from the Rocksteady era. Only Keith Porter, a member of The Itals, carries on, as David Isaacs and Lloyd Ricketts, former members, have also passed away.
