It is no surprise that Reggae, a rhythm born in Jamaica, is one of the most popular in the world. In addition to reaching people of all social classes, ethnicities and ages, the music carries a hugely important message of love, peace, togetherness and positivity, teaching and making people reflect.
The Grito Cultural Reggae Festival, heading toward its 14th edition, has been part of the Official Events Calendar of the City of São Paulo since 2010 through Law 15.338, of November 29 of that same year. One of the goals of the event, which brings together thousands of people and is organized by the Associação Cultural Reggae, is to help human transformation through leisure, culture and entertainment, using reggae not only as a musical style but as a philosophy of social recovery.
2017 EDITION
This year the Associação Cultural Reggae team prepared a very special event, featuring some of the most relevant artists in National Reggae such as Edson Gomes, Ponto de Equilíbrio and Mato Seco, along with a legend of Jamaican Reggae — the vocal trio "The Mighty Diamonds", long awaited by the public for decades.
(Listen to the killer track "Pray Unto Thee")
In addition to the artistic program, Sound Systems (heavy sound systems that represent Jamaican culture), extreme sports, graffiti exhibition and much more.
